Attracting New Students
• Hold an informational meeting the first or second week of school
• Put up colorful fliers/posters, listing a time, place, and that refreshments will be served (food is a good attraction, i.e. dessert, pizza, subs, etc.)
• At the meeting, briefly explain what NCF is and what a typical meeting would be like – check out this link to the NCF website: http://www.ncf-jcn.org/student/start/main.html
• Show a DVD on NCF ministry and resources. If your school does not have the NCF DVD, request it through ncf@intervarsity.org
• Allow time for Q&A
• Find more ideas at this link: http://www.ncf-jcn.org/student/start/plan.html
Choosing a meeting time that works for the majority
• At your introductory meeting, take a simple survey to find out what times work best – make it multiple choice if you think it would be helpful. Most NCF student groups meet before classes, over a lunch hour, or after the school day. Evenings may also be an option.

• Some groups became very creative this year:

Open house hour – students can come and go during a set period that works for most
One group met a half hour before exams to pray and invited anyone in the class to join them. 20 students accepted Christ during the course of the year.
Another group designed a bulletin board online where they could share their prayer requests and encourage one another with messages.
Some groups meet for prayer or Bible study during daytime hours and have special speakers come for a monthly evening meeting.
Other schools organize two or three smaller prayer and Bible study groups that meet together occasionally for special events.

• Many groups this past year used the Bible as their primary resource. This is terrific! Here are some other ideas to use:
     • Bible study guides and books written specifically for nurses are available on our website, www.ncf-jcn.org, under the Publications and Resources section.
     • The Journal of Christian Nursing is featuring a “Going Deeper” section in each issue on the Table of Contents page (as well as available on the website). It has personal and group study ideas. Your group could read an article and then discuss the questions listed in this section.
     • More Bible study ideas can be found in the Faculty Advisor Kit, available through the website.

• Above all, spend time in prayer for your group! (and share your prayer joys and concerns with us at ncf@intervarsity.org)
